Treatment and support

Cannabis is the second most common reason why people access alcohol or drug treatment in Australia [23508]. Counselling is the main treatment for cannabis use [29712]. Many people are referred to treatment through diversion programs (they arereferred from the criminal justice system for a drug related offence). To help prevent the uptake of cannabis, communities can try engaging young people in programs and activities that keep them connected to their school, family, community and culture [23508].
